IN CONVERSATION|AVRY GRIFFIN
Name|Avry Anthony Griffin
Age|19
Hometown|Long Branch, New Jersey
How did you get discovered?
I always had a dream to achieve and build something bigger than myself. I always loved the fashion world, so when I was discovered , I saw it as the perfect opportunity to make my family and friends proud, and to create images that are timeless.
What were you doing prior to modeling?
Before modeling, I was playing football and going to school at Pace University. Since then, a year later, I transferred to Brookdale Community College and have been a lifeguard and a waiter as well.
People would be surprised to know that I...
love art. Although there are millions of art lovers in the world, people who know me would never guess that because of my extensive sports background. I love creating, I love designing, think abstractly, the thought of creating something from nothing to create a message, or help someone's life in a positive way excites me.
Your most prize possession?
My autographed 1958 Yankees world championship baseball. My prized possession, not just because it is signed by one of the best players in the league history, but because my grandfather gave it to me, he was the ball boy for the Yankees back then, he's been like a father to me growing up, he taught me so much, I love him more than anything!
Growing up, who did you look up to as your hero?
Growing up, I looked up to my mom and grandparents. My mother comes from nothing, an immigrant Italian household where she would have to sleep on wood planks, she worked her entire life to receive her PHD from Columbia. She is an electrical engineer for Alcatel-Lucent. My grandparents never had much, but always made sure I had everything!
When is the last time you said, "I Love You" to someone?
My girlfriend about an hour ago :). She supports me with everything, she is a great person inside and out.
Three adjectives that best describes you:
Adventurous, Daring and Compassionate
Describe your personal style:
Very unique. The way I dress comes from many different influences. I am multi cultural, I am from the beach, with a city high fashion twist. I always love to mix it up and try new things.
Your favorite place you have travel to:
California. The vibe is unreal. The landscapes is beautiful, and the people are so friendly.
Your favorite film and scene from the film:
Casablanca—Scene: The ending when he sacrifices losing the love of his life to another man for the greater good of humanity, no award, no thank you's, he just did what was right.
Your favorite sport:
Sport: Football
Team: Minnesota Vikings
Player: Adrian Peterson
A beautiful tactful game that combines a chess match, grace and aggression.
If there's a destination or item you would recommend us to check out or visit about your native country/city or town, what would you recommend?
Long Branch, New Jersey—The beach without a doubt. It is so peaceful and beautiful, it's like the world just stops!
If you were given a indie cable show, what type of show would it be? Which song would you choose as your theme song?
Travel to the worst parts of the world, to show and educate people, how bad things are for others and how we can change the world we live in to a more positive place! Theme song: One Man Can Change The World by Big Sean
Your wish for the remainder of 2015?
To have my uncle around for one last Christmas. Christmas with him were always the best. He passed away from liver cancer five years ago, but one last Christmas with him would be awesome!
Clothing: T-shirt by Armani Exchange; tank t-shirt by Rxmance, checkered shirt and blue polka dots shirt, both by H&M
