IN CONVERSATION|MATTIA PARDINI
Name|Mattia Pardini
Age|21
Hometown|Lucca, Italy
How did you get discovered?
I don't much of a romantic story. I did some modeling for friends at ICP (International Center of Photography) and the photos were well received. When I came back to New York after the summer, I thought I will give it a shot so I started submitting my photos here and there. My first casting was with Nole Marin. I felt a great connection and I think he did as well. A week later, I was signed.
What were you doing prior to modeling?
I was studying photography at ICP.
People would be surprised to know that I...
had kidney cancer at the age of 15. Not that exciting, a bit depressing but surprisingly for most! I am all good now!
What's your latest obsession?
People! Modeling has allowed me to meet people from so many backgrounds, to me, this is all new and stimulating.
Your most prize possession?
My camera. I guess the work is more important. But I see the camera as the apparatus that allows me to make new projects. I try not not to be too emotionally attached to old projects.
Growing up, who did you look up to as your hero?
I can't recall having any special heroes. Looking back I would say my father was.
When is the last time you said, "I Love You" to someone?
About a month ago to my girlfriend, Katie. I don't say it often. Probably should more...I hope she knows it's implied.
Three adjectives that best describes you:
Superficial but without the negative connotations. I think a lot of truth is revealed by sight and aesthetics. I don't tend to jump to conclusions about people. I guess that leads to perceptive. The last one is gentle, I won't explain that one.
Describe your personal style:
Grungy and posh if that is even possible.
Your favorite place you have travel to:
Martha's Vineyard. I used to go there every summer with my family.
Your favorite film and scene from the film:
No Country For Old Men—Scene: The protagonist tracking down the survivor from a drug shootout and he uses the blood on the ground like a hunter would.
If there's a destination or item you would recommend us to check out or visit about your native country/city or town, what would you recommend?
Lucca, Italy—I would say any road in Tuscany that is off the beaten path is likely to bring you into an Italian/Medieval/Renaissance madness.
If you were given a indie cable show, what type of show would it be? Which song would you choose as your theme song?
Just music—mostly indie. I have been wanting a show that plays full albums. Clap your hands say yes—over and over again would be the theme song.
Craziest thing you ever done:
Probably moving to NYC. It changes you psychologically, especially coming from a small town.
Your wish for the remainder of 2015?
Anything new and unexpected. That's what modeling has been like so far. I hope it keeps coming!
