IN CONVERSATION|ANDREW SHERMAN
Name|Andrew Benjamin Sherman
Age|22
Hometown|Chicago, Illinois—Los Angeles—NYC
How did you get discovered?
A long-time affinity for fashion paired with opportunities to enter the world of fashion brought me to this point.
What were you doing prior to modeling?
I was working as a personal assistant to an interior designer who was/is involved in the fashion world.
People would be surprised to know that I...
am a pre med student with a passion for solving health issues for the general public. I want to alleviate long-term problems with the medical/pharmaceutical industries worldwide and looks through a lens that doesn't necessarily just call for "take this pill and see me in 30 days." I also write 1-2k words a day of prose, short stories, etc.
What's your latest obsession?
Besides fashion, music theory, linguistics, classical civilizations and geopolitics.
Your most prize possession?
When living in LA, I had a friend that stay with me. I had no expectations in terms of rent/monetary gain, but the first day he got to LA, he went out and got me groceries and a hot plate because my stove at the time was broken. To this day, he remains one of my closest friends and I will always have that hot plate.
Growing up, who did you look up to as your hero?
Allen Iverson, Jacques Cousteau and Bill Murray.
When is the last time you said, "I Love You" to someone?
This morning, leaving home, I told my girlfriend, Alice, I love her.
Three adjectives that best describes you:
Adaptive, Intelligent and Driven
Describe your personal style:
Somewhere in the realm of skateboarder/90s culture aficionado/hip hop head/faux fur trench coat loving Y-3 fan
Your favorite place you have travel to:
Marseilles, France—Love the French feel coupled with the laid back beach town vibe, along with the weather. Reminds me of a French Santa Monica.
Your favorite film and scene from the film:
Annie Hall—Scene: The breakup scene where he gets in his car and it jumps back to his childhood with the bumper cars.
Your favorite designers:
Jeremy Scott—Love his eclectic, colorful style. Does not seem to falter at "standard" fashion norms and think outside the box.
Yohji Yamamoto—His entire collection of accumulated looks over the years never ceases to amaze me. Also, he plays pokemon still and is always down to train/trade with fans. I have his friend look for pokemon alpha ruby/sapphire!
Raf Simons—His work has influenced an innumerable of designs.
Martin Margiela—I love the feeling I get just when I look at his work, let alone wearing it. Look fantastic and also serves functional purposes.
Hedi Slimane—His work at Saint Laurent and at Dior Homme have inspired me in part to enter fashion. Doing what you love and being successful, if even in one's own eyes, is the greatest type of success!

If there's a destination or item you would recommend us to check out or visit about your native country/city or town, what would you recommend?
Chicago, Illinois—The Wrigley Field. Everyone is extremely friendly and there are not very many "airs" put on. Just people having fun, enjoying life and a cold beer at a beautiful ballpark, watching their beloved Cubs lose!!!
If you were given a indie cable show, what type of show would it be? Which song would you choose as your theme song?
A show that is something similar to the Robot Chicken. Shorts with a clear message (or nonsensical humor) thrown together without a setup series of politics (or a single one). Theme song: Ace of Spades by Motorhead
Craziest thing you ever done:
A 30 foot drop into clear water near a volcanic area in Hawaii. That conquered my lifelong fear of heights.
Your wish for 2016?
I'd wish for people to stop being pre-occupied with detrimental everyday nonsense and put their efforts towards fastering love and progress as a planet. In short, drop the crap and let's love each other!
