IN CONVERSATION|MIKE KUSHNIR

Name|Mike Kushnir
Age|19
Hometown|Queens, Astoria, New York City

How did you get discovered?
It never entered my mind about pursuing a career in modeling but the opportunity came to me and out of curiosity and my interest in fashion convinced me to give a try.
What were you doing prior to modeling?
Before modeling, I was working as a prep cook at a sandwich with sub standard pay. While I was preparing food, I would day dream about my next move after I get off work.
People would be surprised to know that I...
I think people who don't know that I am quite open minded to a lot of things, such as music, culture and people. I have a lot of passion in everything that I do.
What's your latest obsession?
My obsession is skateboarding. It is what I am most passionate about. I am constantly trying to improve my skills. The adrenaline rush that you get after doing a difficult trick cannot compare to any other high!
Your most prize possession?
My sketch book. I have put over a hundred of hours putting my effort into making the drawings that makes me smiles.
Growing up, who did you look up to as your hero?
As a kid, money was not something I sought after like I do now, so anything I would want to do would be for fun. I would consider being a professional skateboarder or a astronaut. I look up to people like Danny Way, Bob Burnquist, Paul Rodriquez and Buzz Aldrin.
When is the last time you said, "I Love You" to someone?
My little brother Brandon, he is 10 years old. Such an amazing blessing of a brother.
Three adjectives that best describes you:
Passionate, Versatile, Procrastinate
Describe your personal style:
When I select something to wear I want the clothing to speak for me. I love comfortable and soft fabrics that have some stretch to it since I am always moving. The colors of the fabrics & garments should fit a bit loose and the colors should evoke harmony with one another. I love simple yet unique designs that makes me individualistic.
Your favorite place you have travel to:
Brooklyn—All of my favorite people are over there and you always find the best venues to party at.
Your favorite film and scene from the film:
The Departed—Scene: When Leonardo DiCaprio  was helping his partner that was a mobster to burn down a client's house for not paying a debt.
Your favorite sport:
Sport: Skateboarding
Skater: Grant Taylor
If there's a destination or item you would recommend us to check out or visit about your native country/city or town, what would you recommend?
Astoria, Queens—I would take you to the jazz center on 59th Street to eat and watch live jazz.
If you were given a indie cable show, what type of show would it be? Which song would you choose as your theme song?
If I had an hour, I would go around the city following graffiti artists and capture their adventures, avoiding the police and the obstacles they face making their art. Theme song: Theme to the Back To The Future
Craziest thing you ever done:
Once I had bought a 10 lbs. bag dry ice and placed the ice in a gallon bucket of hot water in my house, the whole house was fill with fog. It was real trippy!
Your wish for the remainder of 2016?
I would wish for the improvement for everyone with the quality of life. It's gotta be 100% better than the rate it is now.
