The days before a runway show are intense for Billy Reid, with the hours leading up to his New York presentations among the most demanding.
A successful fashion show is about the details. Whether it’s putting finishing touches on looks on Monday before they leave his Bond Street studio, attending a pre-show lighting test on Sunday night at the venue, or giving the models a brotherly high-five backstage seconds before they step onto the runway, Billy is there, making sure his vision is complete.
Our digital design director Bradley Dean spent time with Billy last Sunday and Monday, in the final hours before our company’s fall/winter 2014 presentation, which was held in the High Line Hotel's Refectory, an elegant Gothic banquet hall that once belonged to the Episcopal seminary on the same block. With background music by Phosphorescent - aka Matthew Houck - who played live during the runway show, the short film exposes the excitement, tension, beauty, and, ultimately, the joy and relief that are all part of Billy’s creative process.
