How did you get discovered?
My agent, Shawn, ran into me on Times Square while I was on vacation with my family, visiting the northeast coast. Shawn asked me if I can call him if I was gonna be in New York City again. I returned to NYC and met with Shawn on Monday and here I am, officially a model.
What did you do prior to modeling?
I was a Bartender at the local pub in The Netherlands and studied technical business engineering. After I succesfully completed my first year I switched to studying law.
Your favorite past time is?
Sports! It's my passion. I've been a soccer player for 16 years now. Besides soccer, I also cycle and you can find me at the gym anytime. I support PSV Eindhoven and do have a season-plan. PSV is one of the best soccer clubs in The Netherlands. Additionally, spending time with friends is one of the nicest things to do. We always have a great laugh and sharing new stories with the ones who are very important to you is always great!
What do you most look forward to about entering the modeling world?
One of my biggest loves in life is traveling. I've been to the States twice now, visited India twice and saw a lot of countries in Europe. What I want to achieve in modeling itself: To tell a story with my eyes and posture. That is something I want to learn or perhaps already can. I don't know that yet, because I'm telling you this on my first day of shooting!
How do you describe your distinctive look?
Pure, classic. I have blue eyes and blond hair. My skin is pretty pale. I don't have anything to hide. It's as pure as it gets. What you see is what you get!
If you have to choose a song that would best describe your life so far, which one would it be and why?
On Top of the World—Imagine Dragons. In my teenage years, I had a very low self esteem. Just like every other young boy, you're insecure and want recognition or attention. Within a few years, as I get older, I got a lot of opportunities and compliments. I started working at the local pub three years ago. That was the first time that some people told me that I was good looking. I have walked from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) to Paris (France) with a friend of mine. We walked almost 300 Miles on my Nikes in three weeks and arrived in Paris. That was something that gave me confidence and nobody will ever take that achievement away from me. I'm starting my law study this year at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and got picked up on the streets to be a model.
I get more chances in my life than others and I realize that. I'm blessed with that, I will make it work and all these opoortunities make me feel like a really happy person!
