IN CONVERSATION|JAMES McCOOL

Name|James Sheridan McCool
Age|19
Hometown|Mountain Brook, Alabama

How did you get discovered?
I was always interested in modeling. When I saw the Calvin Klein Superbowl ad with Matthew Terry, I knew that's what I wanted to do. Every model has their scouting story of how they were recognized in public, but in Alabama, there are very few modeling scouts. So, I knew I had to take pictures of me because I was embarrassed of my judgmental friends. Till now, my friends still doesn't know about my modeling career. My mom took some photos of me and these are the ones that got the attention and recognized by top agencies in New York City!
What were you doing prior to modeling?
Before modeling, I was an average fraternity/college Southern boy. I had a secret interest in fashion and beauty. I am currently majoring in finance.
People would be surprised to know that I...
Something about myself a lot of people don't know back home is that I love to dress in different clothes and try new styles while in the comfort of my own room. I dressed quite conservatively in public. I also like to meditate, reflect and be alone. I am a Taurine! (Birthday: April 25, 1995)
What's your latest obsession?
Working out and building a perfect body image. I also have gotten into skin care. My friends all think I am wasting my time and money but I love it!
Your most prize possession?
My 2001 VW Passat that repels the ladies, but it means so much to me. It is a symbol of my hard work because I worked for years to buy it!
Growing up, who did you look up to as your hero?
I always wanted to be in the MLB soccer team very badly. I worked so hard also trying to be in my hometown baseball team but I didn't grow until I was 16 or 17. The coaches at my high school ruined my dream by not letting me on the team because I was too skinny and young looking.
When is the last time you said, "I Love You" to someone?
I said it to my mom when she dropped me off at the airport to go to NYC. She is the most amazing lady who supports me no matter what!
Three adjectives that best describes you:
Determined, Open Minded and Adventurous
Describe your personal style:
Southern outdoors meets the city. I will often mix and match outdoor clothes with fashionably city trends.
Your favorite place you have travel to:
Kincardine, Canada—I lived there for two years when I was 13 and 14. It is a small vacation town on  Lake Huron. It is so beautiful!
Your favorite film and scene from the film:
Forrest Gump—Scene: When Forest break out of his leg braces...I watch this movie a million times since I was a kid, I never get tired of it!
Your favorite sport:
Sport: American Football
Team: Alabama Crimson Tide
Coach: Nick Saban
If there's a destination or item you would recommend us to check out or visit about your native country/city or town, what would you recommend?
Mountain, Alabama—I will take you to the cliffs at Lake Nickel. I love driving and be in the outdoors. This is my favorite place on earth!
If you were given a indie cable show, what type of show would it be? Which song would you choose as your theme song?
A show about pranking people like "Punk'd" or "Jackass", theme song would be Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf
My fashion tips:
Every guy should have a good amount of skincare products. Someone that they can express their emotions to. They should also have a complete wardrobe for every part of their day, afternoon and evening. It will make you feel better about yourself! Try it!
Your wish for 2015?
Cure for cancer. It has affected so many people in my life that I loved!
